Learn Landshape — Pick. Road

Road

Make road along edge paths in selection.

Useful to quickly lay simple roads across the landscape.

Type:  Pick, Mesh, Shape
Menu:  Extensions > Landshape > Pick > Road

Input

  • One or several groups containing one edge path.

Pro Tips 💡

  • Roads made with Road are automatically Fenced. After creating a road, try stroking some standard brushes along the roadside. Be sure to right-click and activate e.g. Stop By Fence to see the Fence effect.
  • To create simple road networks, iteratively Road different groups whose path cross each other in plan.
  • Road will try to autosmooth your input. THe elevation of your input path does not matter.

Read Statusbar and VCB for Details

  • When Road is active, Sketchup's statusbar will show the current state and options. Read the statusbar carefully.
  • The VCB and its label shows any current parameters. Right after a Road commit, try typing different values and hit Enter to control the Road effect.
  • To explore the tool, open a new sandbox model. Plot-quake a random terrain. Then try Road on it. Don't be afraid to play around!
