Learn Landshape — Prop. Reset Edge Style

Reset Edge Style

Restyle terrain edges to default format.

Useful to bring default Landshape terrain edge styling to all edges within corresponding terrain areas.

Type:  View, Style
Menu:  Extensions > Landshape > Prop > Reset Edge Style

Why Reset Edge Style?

Landshape's default terrain edge format is Hidden and Unsoft and Unsmooth. This is a good starting point for general terrain editing.

However, while editing terrain, it may happen that some edges in your terrain inadvertently end up having nonstandard formatting.

For instance, after merging two initially different but adjacent Zones into one Zone, it can happen that the edges between them stay visible. This creates a visual artifact. Since these edges are no longer Zone Bounds, toggling the View Zone Bounds command will not touch these edges.

Enter the Reset Edge Style command. It helps you remove inadvertent local edge variations.

Resetting Edge Format

To apply the command to a certain terrain area:

  • Select one or more one or more plots. Or input groups whose footprint coincides with your terrain.
  • Run Reset Edge Style.

If your had mixed edge styles, you should now see them revert to the default edge format – being hidden, non-soft and non-smooth.

🧪 An Experimental Command

Currently, Reset Edges is an experimental Labs command.

Please note that currently, this command crudely uses the input geometry's boundingbox footprint to find corresponding terrain edges.

In future Landshape releases, Holygon plans to support arbitrary footprints.
