Stitch

Add or remove individual fences, flip diagonals, and collapse vertices.

Useful to control small-scale terrain details, like edge Fences, and to inspect topology.

Type:  Draw, Mesh
Menu:  Extensions > Landshape > Draw > Stitch

What Is Stitch?

Stitch is a collection of small tools that let you interact with terrain properties in a local, granular way.

Most other Landshape commands are made to control entire areas, in batch.

Stitch enables you to zoom in and polish individual local details.

Some users half-jokingly refer to this as terrain "micromanagement".

Inspect Terrain Topology

When hovering the cursor over terrain, Stitch shows a nice highlight of your local terrain topology.

Toggle Fences

Stitch can toggle Fencing in existing edges. To toggle, hover cursor over an edge, and click it.

Note

Currently, stitch is a fairly primitive tool. In the future, Holygon plans to add flip diaogal, collapse vertex , vertex add, and more.

Read Statusbar and VCB for Details

  • When Stitch is active, Sketchup's statusbar will show the current state and options. Read the statusbar carefully.
  • The VCB and its label shows any current parameters. Right after a Stitch commit, try typing different values and hit Enter to control the Stitch effect.
  • To explore the tool, open a new sandbox model. Plot-quake a random terrain. Then try Stitch on it. Don't be afraid to play around!
