What is the Guide?

Guide is Placify's built-in user manual.

Guide instructs you on how to operate each individual command. Guide gives you an introductory overview to Placify. Guide also explains general concepts and recommended workflows, and reveals pro tips.

Guide explains Placify by way of text with some illustrations. Its content is aimed at self-paced learning and is suitable as a reference.

Use Guide to befriend tools, discover useful features, and to get the most out of Placify.

Guide content is shown in a free-floating dialog window. On Learn's left-hand side is a navigation list of all Placify commands. To access each command's Guide content, in the left-hand navigation, click the command name. The right-hand side will show the selected command's Guide content.

The Guide's sidebar navigation lists Commands by their default menu order. In addition, the navigation starts with an Overview section, which gives you a general introduction to Placify. Commands not grouped by menu blocks are contained in the command section 'Other'.

Currently, the Guide is mainly text-based. In future versions, Holygon plans to add more screenshots and visuals.

Pro Tip — Run Commands via Learn

Did you know? You can Run any Placify command directly from the Guide.

To run the command, open the in-app Guide window, and open a command page. Hover the command icon near the top of the page, and Click it.

Note that running commands via Learn will only work when you are using the Guide from within Sketchup. If you are using the web-based Guide, you cannot start Sketchup commands from there.

Using Sketchup, and want to try it now? Scroll up to the top of this section, hover the Learn icon, and click it. Since Learn works as a toggle, clicking will close this window.

Guide by Instructor

Some users prefer to learn using Sketchup's built-in Instructor. If you open Sketchup's tray panel Instructor, and keep the Instructor open as you work, your currently active Placify tool's Guide content should automatically show in the Instructor.

A benefit of using the Instructor is that it switches content based on which tool you have active. This way, you can learn Placify commands as you work. Note that this only works for tool-like commands.

Open the Instructor via e.g. Sketchup's menu Window > Manage Trays.
