Face Brush
Draw and trim freeform faces by stroking.
Useful to create freeform control groups for other Placify commands, and for Landshape commands. Use facebrush output as a target for Spawn.
Menu: Extensions > Placify > Brush > Face BrushGo Organic
Facebrush makes it a breeze to create organically-shaped faces.
These are in their turn excellent to use as control groups when designing other organic shapes. For instance designing landscapes.
Trim Brush Stroke in Session
If you happen to make the face too big, you can trim it, provided you are still in the stroke session. To trim, press Shift and stroke your previous stroke.
Workflow Example: Create a Grove with Placify & Landshape
In this example, let's say you have a Landshape terrain.
Look at the terrain from above. Activate Face Brush. Now, paint a small area with Face Brush. Cover the area where you want the grove to be. Let the face be above the terrain.
Start small, a face that could contain a few hundred or few thousand trees could work. Hit Enter to commit. If you wish, you can create several areas.
Now, select a few tree components at the side. If you don't have any trees accessible, you can use e.g. Holygon Compfire to import them. With a handful of tree sources selected, you run Spawn.
In Spawn, now pick as targets the face groups that you just created with Face Brush. You should see a preview of the result in your viewport. Adjust the output density and falloff to your liking. To commit, hit Enter.
If you have a Landshape terrain under the face, Placify Spawn will plant the trees on your terrain.
