Splash

Pour water onto terrain up to picked level.

Useful to create lakes, sea, or ocean. The water surface will always be level.

Type:  Draw
Menu:  Extensions > Landshape > Main > Splash

Preview

When you hover over a terrain, you will see a big blue plane. This is just a preview to see at which height the water level would sit. To Splash, click.

Resplash after Terrain Edits

After you have edited terrain, existing splashes may get out of alignment with the most current terrain.

To fix this and automatically resplash all water surfaces, run Rebuild View. This command is available in the View toolbar and menu.

  • When Splash is active, Sketchup's statusbar will show the current state and options. Read the statusbar carefully.
  • The VCB and its label shows any current parameters. Right after a Splash commit, try typing different values and hit Enter to control the Splash effect.
  • To explore the tool, open a new sandbox model. Plot-quake a random terrain. Then try Splash on it. Don't be afraid to play around!
