Clone Vertices

Create guidepoint at each vertex, limited by mask.

Useful to store terrain elevations in a compact pointcloud format, for reuse. Use Fit to conform terrain to a pointcloud.

Menu:  Extensions > Landshape > Clone > Clone Vertices

Compare Elevation Variants

Vertex clones, also called Height clones, are useful to store terrain elevation variants.

Each pointcloud is a compact representation of terrain heights. Store pointcloud clones on a tag to keep your model visually clean.

Later in your workflow, you can quickly flip between elevation variants by showing the pointcloud. Select it as a target, and run Fit to make your terrain conform to the poincould.

In this way, you can easily evaluate and compare different terrain variants.

Store Local Elevations

If you are working with larger terrains, you typically only wish to clone heights from a local area of interest.

To store terrain heights in a local area, use masks. Any grouped simple closed path should work as mask.

Like so:

  1. Preselect a mask.
  2. Run Clone Vertices.

Cloning Other Properties

To instead clone terrain materials or other properties, use other clone commands.
