Blend

Fuse terrain outward or inward from selection bounds.

Useful to make terrain smoothly adapt to a target perimeter. Often used after Fit.

Type:  Pick, Shape
Menu:  Extensions > Landshape > Main > Blend

Input

  • One or more groups containing one well-defined perimeter.
  • One or more groups containing one open edge path.
  • Single raw open edge path.

Operation

Direct

  1. Pre-select valid inputs, per above.
  2. Run Blend.
  3. To adjust result, type values.

Blend is a Pick command.

Blend Direction

You may Blend outwards, inwards, or both directions.

  • To flip Blend direction, use arrow up
  • To Blend outwards, use arrow right.
  • To Blend inwards, use arrow left.
  • To Blend symmetrically, use arrow down.

Outwards or Inwards?

If you blend an closed path, for instance a circle, what is outwards is clear. Now, if you remove one segment from the circle, it is still quite clear what is outwards, even though it is now an open path.

If you blend an open path, Landshape will try to determine what is outwards and inwards by the convexity of the path.

If you blend a single straight path, Landshape will interpret outward as towards the camera.
